• Have you ever read the Halo Effect by Missus T?  In this fic, by my talented WT, Eric is an actor of a widely popular show called Bloodlust and Sookie writes for a food blog called The Queen of All That's Delicious. Well a fanfiction fan, DaisyDrk, who just loves that story created the Lemon Chiffon Halo Effect Cupcakes for her food blog, Bubble and Sweet.  The cupcake is described as "moist lemon chiffon cupcake topped by a fluffy meringue, a sugary halo finished with a rich surprise filling." Yums! Check it out!

What was your first fanfiction story?

I can’t for the life of me remember when I started goggling Eric Northman and anything to do with the Sookieverse but I think one of the first links I found was http://www.ericnorthman.net/fanfic/ I clicked on Terri Botta's Let Love In and I was hooked. I didn’t stop reading till I finished, and from then on I read anything I got my hands onto.

I moved from en.net over to ff.net and the TB wiki forums and then onto Twitter. I’ve expanded my addiction to actually helping out one of our beautiful addicts, SmittenKitten in running the awesome svm-universe website. So I’m totally immersed into the svm world, and I couldn’t be happier.

She's got some pretty cute ones that you can check out on her blog.  Now I'm a Carolina girl by way of my parents being from both North and South Carolina. Hi, my name is CarolinaGirl96 and I’m an SVM addict…

What was your first fanfiction story?

Well, this question could be answered a couple of ways. I’ll answer both.

The first fanfiction story I read was Let Love In by Terri Botta. I completely fell in love with that story and all the side stories that go with it. After a while, I decided to see what else was out there and OMG… There are some truly amazing writers in our little fandom.

Last summer, I was bitten by the writing bug. I was extremely nervous about trying, but I finally gave in. Starting Over is the first fanfiction story I’ve written. It is complete now and I am currently working on a new story, Life Can Go On. Both are all human stories with Sookie and Eric as the central characters.

Memorial Day weekend is shaping up nicely in the DC area despite the rain.  I can't wait to get down to the Mall to visit the memorials and see the Rolling Thunder (vets on Harleys) and all.  On Friday, when I was in my hometown about 40 plus rode by on their way into the city.  (The photo on the right is one I took from my cell of the view standing at the WWII memorial.) I'm going to try and get some photos for my special post. Speaking of which ...

• So I scored a really good SVM Addiction fic spoiler exclusive last night. Pixiegiggles sent me an extra long juicy spoiler for epilogue of The FStop.  And then she gave me 2 pieces of news to go with it ... first is a heads up you'll get the final chapter if you go and re-read chapter 3, Double Exposure. And secondly .. the first chapter of the story's sequel will be teased at end!  And in her words "it's about 1.5k, so please don't get too too excited when you see the length of this next chapter, lol. I don't have the rep for being the mini-chapter queen for nothin'"

• Another When Two Wrongs Make a Right challenge entry made it to the community today. It's called P B & Jelly: A New Death OneShot by mjb84 and features Bill & Pam. She was wondering if it technically made the challenge since it has Bill, I'd have to defer to Thyra10 or Miss Construed.  But since I recently clicked on the hat and received a pairing with Bill, I suspect that it is OK.

Coming very soon (like in the next hour or so) is a new section for the blog.  The Old School Fics section.  Hosted by LindsayK! Linds (also known as @scribeninja on Twitter) is my blogs new Fanfiction Expert.  She been a fan of the stories for a long time and knows a lot about them.

We got the idea of doing this Old School Fics section when I was interviewing her for the SVM Addict Confessionals. It was even harder for Linds to pick one fic to recommend, and explaining how she started reading fanfiction lead into this fascinating story about SVM evolution.  Thus .. we came up with an idea of doing an Old School Fics section, where Linds will host and talk about certain stories and where they fall in the SVM evolution track.  Up first ... I also need to mention really quick that Linds is a fantastic writer.  One of my favorites by far.  Her stories get better and better as she goes. It's like she's trying to one-up herself. And for someone who lamented about writing angst (especially when she wrote a bit of drama into Studybuddies) .. it just gets better. It's really like fine wine! I just read The Ribbon for the third time on the Metrorail on my way to work.  You should really go check out her stuff.

The SVM Fanfic Report: Top 30 at 30 (May)

I created the @SVMFanfic Twitter account approximately 30 days ago. The purpose of this account is to send out the latest SVM Fanfiction updates and stories. And for people who do not wish to get a Twitter account or follow @SVMFanfic, they can still view the tweets from any page on my blog. It's located in the right column under Live! SVM and TB Updates. 

Without getting too technical, this account syncs with the Fanfiction feeds (SVM and TB) and sends out new fics and chapter updates automatically. I am also able to Tweet updates and info when I come across it.

Since I work, in a public sector world and we are all about dashboards now ... I thought I'd create a sort of dashboard post for you guys. Dashboards are meant to be high level and easy to read (many times visually appealing). This dashboard post will report out every 30 days; and will include some interesting statistics I receive from the @SVMFanfic at account and other related statistics I have at my disposal.

I am calling this report the Top 30 at 30 because the main feature of it will be the Top 30 fanfiction stories clicked in the 30 days from feed. This first report won't be as visually appealing as I would like, but I will work on the best way to create the dashboard as I move along.

Tonight's True Blood episode is "I Will Rise Up" ... one of the most memorable episodes of the second season. Well the Viking Wenches created a Wenches Preparedness Kit to help you get through the episode. Since it's more than likely the episode you may not get to this kit before the episode airs. I suggest you check out the kit tp be prepared for season three. The recently aired trailer seems to show that we are going to get a lot more Eric and Sookie scenes this season. So that stuff will come in handy.

True Blood Season Trailer: So yesterday HBO aired the trailer for Season 3 and it was pretty hot. See it here.  I have my favorite parts of the trailer and one clip involves Eric and the other Alcide.  I'm also interested in seeing who is going to bite Tara and why Lafayette busted through that door.

Break for Some Fun: Are you a writer going through a block right now? Or a reader waiting for your favorite fic to update? Well I have just what you need to help with that block or solve your jitters while you wait.  True Blood Paper Dolls, that's right paper dolls. What was your first fanfiction story?

Let Love In by Terri Botta. I'm not gonna lie, I started out being VERY skeptical of fanfic. But, a group of friends on Facebook were all into it and talking about it, so I gave it a try. Now I'm hooked! There was such a long lull with no new SVM books and no True Blood reruns that it really helped fill my withdrawal symptoms. :)

I love so many stories that my favorites list was getting crazy, so I created a group called The Best Complete SVM Stories and One-Shots. where I post all the stories I love that are complete, which keeps my favorites list slightly more manageable! Other readers are welcome to PM me with story suggestions for the community, too. It seems like most of my time now is occupied with fanfic in one way or another. LOL

With my job and some other pet projects keeping me busy, I still haven't finished DITF. I know ... I know. I'm shocked too! Anyhoo, to bring this back to fanfiction. I want tell everyone about a few new fics that tackled the themes from the new book: Dead and Changing, Dead In The Family Redux, and Waking Need. Now I haven't read these because they have major book spoilers in them.  Have you checked them out?

So today I'm posting one heck of a update for a number of reasons. First, I missed an entire weekend of posting because this weekend snuck up on me. It was Mother's Day (Happy Mommy Day to all the Moms!!) and my brother's 49th b-day in the same weekend.  I had a full house at one point AND the weather caused me to lose power. A whirlwind is an understatement here.

Second reason is that the ficdom world was crazy busy .. between Monday Teasers, all the highlights I have to post, and the DeadPan Contest entries rolling in.  There's a lot of ground to cover.

It's here! It's here! Happy DITF Day. Spoilers are rampant for the book all over the internet so I'm going to leave it at that and move onto the fics. (Plus, I'm still reading so I can't discuss until I finish. *smiles*)

• So last night, afalcone10 mentioned that she won't be updating Dead to My World for a little while so she sent out this little teaser. Enjoy!
  
  In other news, while letting us know that she will be updating Dixie today (see Fanfiction Highlights), Lubs mentioned that if you read the last chapter of Comic Con Connections you will know the next destination for Pilot E. I'm not spilling the beans on this one .. so go read the chapter.
  
  Now you gotta love the fic fan gals ... we speak code and everyone totally understands. Case in point: in a tweet from Evenflo78, she tells us: "Working on ch 13 CT, ch 15 IK, a one shot for POTC and a new multi ch for POTC. I also have this nagging J/B story in my head." And to sum that up ... make sure you have Evenflo78 on alert because she's updating Couple's Therapy and Ivoking Kismet (Twi); AND working on 3 new fics for Twilight and Pirates of the Caribbean.

My first fan fiction  story was Pour Some Sugar on Me by Bon Temps Baby.  I don’t even remember how I stumbled upon it, but I do remember staying up until like 5 in the morning reading it. I was addicted immediately.

  So heard on the grapevine *twitter* that Jan of Arc (LJ, EN.net) -- of Ring of Ring of Roses; Sookie,Interrupted; The Strength Found Within -- is working on something new. An AH (her first!), Sookie has an accident which makes her reliant on her PC and finds new friends in an online world.  I'm looking forward to checking this one out.
  
  Also in spoiler news, this week LindsayK (fanfiction.net) was sending out teasers for her work-in-progress Candle in the Window.  I won't send out the link to her teaser without her permission, just know that the GoGI couple has some hawt stuff in store for them.
