Hi, my name is svmaddict and… well, I'm an SVM addict! :p
What was your first fanfiction story?
Let Love In by Terry Bota. It was late last summer, I was pissed because that week True Blood had skipped an episode and I was going through my withdrawal... So I was at CH's site, checking the forum there, when someone said something about it. I think they were moderated later because CH doesn't encourage fanfiction based on her books, but I had already seen it and searched for it. I had never heard of the existence of fanfiction before that, but after finding it, I haven't been able to tear myself from it!
What are typical characteristics of the stories you like to read?
Hm. I like to think that my favourite stories are not "typical". There are plenty of stories in FF.net that seem to be copy-paste of each other. I don't criticize anyone, it makes sense; people create their versions of what they want the books to be and those versions often coincide or take inspiration from one another. That's cool.
But those are not the kind of stories I'm interested in. That's why I rarely read canon -it has to be VERY well-written and to have something fresh and original to offer for me to go there.
In that sense, the stories that I read are mostly AH or vampire-AU fics. They must have a certain originality in them, they must have a sense of humour even when they are not aiming to be just funny and pure fluff. I don't mind angst -as a matter of fact I want there to be some angst because when things seem to fall in place too easily it seems unrealistic and I find it hard to connect. That being said, I generally don't read angsty stories—fics that are mostly angst—either, because I find it draining. There must be a balance or I will abandon ship. Of course, there are always the occasional exception...
I also don't mind lemons when they are well-written, but generally I will avoid a story that is just that. Some of my favourite stories (which can be found in the list below) started as pure lemons but ended up having a plot too. But they were so light and humorous and tackled the subject with so much grace and with a conspiratorial wink towards the reader, that it was hard for me to resist!
I am a huge Eric fan, so the stories I read are mainly Sookie/Eric pairings (although thanks to a favorite author of mine, Alcide has managed to slip in too somehow).
What are you reading right now?
I'm glad there is a "now" in your question, because if I started listing all the fics I've read we'd be having a pretty long list… it's pretty long anyway 'cause I'm currently reading quite a few!

Recommend one fic and give us review of why you like it.
Deciding which fic to suggest is incredibly difficult. Not only the fics I'm reading now and mentioned above are amazing but there are some incredible completed stories that I could choose from. The list is big and choosing just one is not easy... So I’m gonna go with a one-shot that is rather forgotten and I’d like to remind people about it:
25 to 1 by Krismom
It’s not a big fic but its emotional impact is great. It's sad but deep and written so well that anyone who hasn't read it yet must go read it at once! I re-read it recently and I was moved as much as the first time.
The bittersweet aftertaste, the humor that is so elegantly woven in a story that is sad but hopeful at heart, the exceptional writing, the original theme, make it a story worth much more attention than what it has received so far. As a matter of fact, I was competing against this fic in the Popping Cherries contest and I had declared that had it made it to the finalists, I would vote that and not my own story. Sadly, it was overlooked so I'm giving it its rightful credit now. You can find it in fanfiction.net under the author Krismom in the SVM fandom.

Big thanks to svmaddict for letting me test this feature out with her. I enjoyed finding out what makes you an addict. This interview has added a couple of fics to my always growing "fics to read" list. ~Sapfirerose
