Confessions of a SVM Addict: APearle

Blogger note: Hi folks! This week's confession is in a bit of a different style than the rest and that's because this confessor is a different type of fanfic addict. For those who have read my confession (it's my About Me page), then you may have read the bit about how I started fanfiction by reading Sookie/Quinn stories. Being open to different kinds of pairings is how I came across this writer early on. APearle first fic is a Quinn story, WereTiger Origins, and to celebrate how she dares to take on a different type of SVM story, her confession interview is in a unique style. So with a Tiger roar, allow me to introduce you to APerle ...

Hi my name is APearle and I'm a SVM addict ...

What was your first fanfiction story?

FIRST READ
The first fanfiction story I ever read was After Effects by SumFatChic. I had to actually look at my 'favorites added list' to figure this out because I have read so many, but it all came back to me. I first found fanfiction because I, unlike most SVM fans, adore and want to mate with Quinn the weretiger. So, I was searching the web for Quinn and SVM and found that story. From then on I was sucked into the world of fanfiction, not only Quinn stories (there are very very few of them) and not only SVM stories. I branched off into reading anime ff because of a fellow SVM writer that also writes anime ff, Obsidians.


FIRST WRITTEN
My first fanfiction story I wrote is Revealed and it is a Sookie story with several of her men thrown in as well. It is what I decided to write after I read CH's short story Gift Wrap because it left so many unanswered questions (even after Dead and Gone came out). So it was my thoughts on what might be going on with Niall's "gift" for Sookie and the ramifications of what he did and how I would like to see the characters behave. What most people don't know is that the story did start with a specific coupling for Sookie in mind, but after I read Dead and Gone (book 9) I went on a completely new track because of my feelings about how CH portrayed certain characters in that book.

What are typical characteristics of the stories you like to read?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE angst. Hurt is also a favorite of mine because I like to read a protaganist being hurt in someway and then being picked back up and made whole again. I have a bit of S/M qualities in me and that may be picked up on in my writing, even though I do not write any overt BDSM (yet). And as such, I of course adore LEMONS....and to go with my hurt/angst theme, I enjoy dark lemons. Don't judge me.

Name ten fics (SVM, TB or other) you are reading right now.

I am much better able to list authors that I read rather than specific stories. If I like the author, it means they write what I like and therefore I read EVERYTHING they write...and some of them have NUMEROUS stories and I envy and praise them the patience, time, and thought it takes to write them.

Recommend one fic and tell us why you like it.

Malanna's fic, Dead to Rights because it is wickedly evil and totally took a turn I never thought would happen. It is two years old and complete. It takes place after book 8, the Nevada takeover, so you have to read it in that context.

... When I think of APerle, I tend to place in the Old School Fic writers batch. Even though her stories aren't about what LindsayK talked about in Vol 1, she was part of that first generation. She started writing her stories back in April, 2009 and many of her favorite fanfiction stories date back to 2008. That's a long time ago on SVM Fanfic terms.
