Confessions of a SVM Addict: BonTempsCutie

Blogger note: Have you met BonTempsCutie? She's my other Michigan gal and a sweetie pie that I met through my lovely vice that is Twitter. Like me, she's now a part of the SVM Addicts who went from being just readers of fanfiction to dabbling in writing by entering into the Dead Pan Contest. Her story was With Ferengis Like This, a parody of Star Trek: The Next Generation. I'm a trekkie and especially a fan of this series, so I was happy that BTC wrote this one. And a little fic spoiling on the side (because that's what I do), BonTempsCutie said she wants to continue it! Woot! OK ... enough of my pimping pimpery. Hi my name is BonTempsCutie and I'm a SVM addict ...

What was your first fanfiction story you read?

Bonds by FarDareisMai2. I had just finished reading books 1-9 for the third time and was interested in finding out more about Quinn. I know, I know, but I was wondering if there was more to the story. After all, Sookie did have sex with him! She didn't even have sex with Alcide and she spent way more time with him. Anyway, since Charlaine Harris has written some short stories I thought that maybe she wrote one about Quinn, kind of like the Hadley/Waldo story. When I googled 'Sookie and Quinn' I found fanfiction. The first site I found was the True Blood Wiki site. Under fanfiction I found the oh-so-intriguing category of Vampwich. I followed FarDareisMai2 over to ff.net and have been reading voraciously ever since.

What are typical characteristics of the stories you like to read?

I'm bad - I love it all! I really love canon but have also come to appreciate AU and AH. In fact, I'm reading a lot of AH right now. I try and switch back and forth - it helps me keep all of the stories I'm reading straight. When someone writes really good canon, I'm hooked. I love finding completed stories and staying up late to read them the whole way thru. I have a hard time with bad grammar and can generally forgive a few misspelled words. I love a good description of ones surroundings, but too much description makes me start skimming the story for the real meat and potatoes.

Dead Wrong by Meg2
This is the first book in Meg's third series of E/S books. It takes place immediately following Dead and Gone and tries to make sense out of all the terrible things that happened in that book. Her Eric is sensitive, strong and patient. Her Sookie is truly damaged by everything that has happened to her throughout the books. In this series, Sookie starts to grow up and take charge of her life so that she is no longer anyone's pawn, but in doing so she finds she is still not happy. IMHO Meg is one of the most brilliant writers out there. She takes our favorite characters places you wish Ms. Harris would but probably never will. She also creates this amazing band of brothers for Eric. They become a great support system/family for him, Sookie and Pam. In fact, I'm in love with Cadel - shhhhh - don't tell my husband!

One of the addicts and the SVM Expert of our bunch, LindsayK told me once about a generations theory she has of the writers for SVM. I wonder if the Dead Pan Contest has started a new one? Linds ... what do you think?
