Confessions of a SVM Addict: SlackerDee

Blogger note: Most know her as SlackerDee, a writer who has gifted us with some of the sexiest Alcides in SVM Fandom. Have you read Cowboys and Angels or are following the on-going It's Your Song fics? I'm hoping to dive into Secrets That Kill very soon. Her Alcides tend to be rustic and down-to-earth. But a good Alcide is just one thing in her fanfic repertoire. She also has a lot of great Eric and Sookie pairings as well. Recently winning both the judges favorite and public vote for the Seven Deadly Sins contest, SlackerDee has proven their isn't a pairing or situation she won't try. Don't believe me .. check out her latest, 'Stay' for I Write the Songs Contest. This fic was thought provoking and will make you look at Sookie AND Eric in a different way. Speaking of creating a different type of story, check out the contest she's co-hosting called Happily (N)ever After. Oh my ... Hi my name is SlackerDee and I'm a SVM addict ...

What was the first fanfiction story you read?

The first SVM fanfiction I read was MissConstrued's Sorry Ladies, Northman's Off The Market. I was bored one day and thought I'd dive into some SVM fanfiction because I liked the books. I like lengthy fics that will hold my attention for awhile and NOM hit the mark. I was hooked and I read every single one of her fics within a two day period. Its kinda been downhill ever since. lol

What are typical characteristics of the stories you like to read?

Let's see, I want to read something that will hold my attention. If I can't focus on it beyond the first chapter or for a couple minutes, I won't read it. I have such an eccentric taste in what I read that it is hard to pin point just what I like. I love HEA's, I don't mind angst, and if it has smut, then I consider it a bonus. I adore fics that challenge the characters, one that really pushes them past their limits. I also appreciate the realism in a fic. I think authors that go that extra mile to research what they are writing, be it a profession or a place, deserve cookies. Lots of cookies. I prefer All Human fics in the SVM fandom because it can be hard to write in compliance with canon and nail it, so I'm always a little wary about reading canon based fics.

Recommend one fic and tell us why you like it.

If I had to pick just one fic, I'd have to recommend Healing Blood by bellawriter7. I was so disappointed by DITF and to me Healing Blood is what DITF should have been. Sookie went through a horrific event and suffered so much and while she's recovering, she is still having issues. Healing Blood addresses these issues and works through them. Sookie and Eric work through their issues and Eric supports Sookie, even when she doubts him. This fic is very angsty and intense, but in a good kind of way. Bellawriter7 has done an amazing job with the canon characters and has created some pretty amazing orginal characters as well.

  ... The SVM Addicts are a group of SVM fans who bravely confessed their fanfiction addiction to this blog to help tell a story about the great fanfiction we have in SVM World. Going forward, I will be asking active SVM Fanfic readers if they would like to confess, instead of taking volunteers. I'm looking for folks who don't mind promoting others. And also would like to help produce more collaboration posts in the new year.
